Abstract:
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGID). At present, the mechanism of the disease remains unclear, it may be related to the visceral hypersensitivity, gastrointestinal motility disorder, intestinal dysbacteriosis, mental and genetic factors. Visceral hypersensitivity is one of the most important pathophysiological characteristics of IBS. Therefore, the detection and evaluation of the visceral hypersensitivity of IBS are of practical significance for the guidance of clinical treatment. The researches on visceral hypersensitivity of IBS in the past two decades are summarized, The detection and evaluation methods of visceral hypersensitivity in IBS patients and animal models from perspectives of central and peripheral are reviewed, the current state and clinical application of these methods are discussed, in order to provide literature basis for the evaluation of visceral hypersensitivity of IBS.
